CHEERING FOR PEACE

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." John l6:33

Jesus stated peace cheer to His own just hours before He was murdered. The time frame is most significant.

As Jesus was about to be sliced upon the tree, He promised His own the overcoming of the world. Irony personified.

The cross carrier can never finally doubt the care of the Yoke-fellow. Yoke-fellow never ever seeks His own pleasure; it is always that Yoke-fellow seeks the care of His grace child. Always.

As Jesus was about to be spiked, He comforted His own. He obviously was utter self-lessness.

Therefore, when cross carrier hears Mentor state that believer is to learn from Him, that includes being utterly self-less. In that is the believer's strength.

If believer lives out the gospel life in order to be appreciated by humanity, he will soon give up. If he thinks he is going to be thanked by humanity, he will shut down. In fact, sometimes believer will be treated as doormat by the very ones for whom he has spilt his blood.

Nevertheless, with such mutiny a life fact, believer continues on the cross way undaunted because he is not doing one thing finally for humanity. He is doing whatever he is doing for Mentor, learning from Him how to be self-less.

Server-giver types are the most sensitive of God's lot. Therefore, their sensitivities make them most vulnerable for being used. When they are so mistreated, the knife goes in deeply. Duds of the world don't feel that much; therefore, their pain is stunted near the outset.

However, server-giver cross bearers do have Yoke-fellow to remind them that the only way to survive in serving and giving is to overcome the nastiness by doing all for Father. Jesus did all for Father. Father never gave up on Son. Therefore, Son, though treated as outcast from His own planet, could go on to perform another miracle, teach another lesson, preach another sermon, love another child.

Exhaustion did not become Son. Defeat did not take over Son.

Then the peace cheer promised disciple by Mentor is wrapped up in the self-less life of the cross. Peace cheer thereby is not so much hop-skip-and-jump giddy hilarity as it is a foundation Rock relationship. He then is our peace. He then is our cheer.

Since He is always to be counted upon, then one can overcome the world. Regardless.

NO OFFENSE IN JESUS

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

"Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?"  John l6:3l

The cross carrier is forever confronted with the dark side's attempt to get doubt into the journey.

Jesus informed His own of His identity--God. They accepted that declaration as eternal mystery. Jesus knew full well that within a short time these same men would have that premise challenged. The Calvary massacre would test their postulate.

However, at the time that they stated that they got His point, Jesus then affirmed that they believed rightly:  However, He did so with a question:  "Do ye now believe?"  In other words, things are all set up properly now; but what will it be from here on out?

So it was with cousin John. Jesus and John had grown up together. Now they were young adults in their early thirties. John had spent his young adult energy in evangelism. Jesus had just begun His messianic ministry.

In such a brief time, John's calling was cut short by being jailed. There he sat in a cell, wondering about the actual identity of cousin Jesus. Was He or wasn't He? Had John been fooled? Had the whole messianic deal been nothing other than an illusion? With a knife close to the neck, there might be an allowance for mental confusion.  So it was that John's certainty began to waver--doubt about Jesus' real self.

Likewise, Jesus knew that the disciples would have their faith in Him put to the pressing point. With heartache, Jesus must have told them what He responded to John:  "Do not be embarrassed by knowing Who I am, believing in Me."

So it is with each cross carrier. There will come the moment when you will be so utterly burdened by the anguish of the timber that you will cry out your own doubt. At that point, do not despair. It is one thing to doubt; it is another to despair.

In other words, back there when life was fairly on keel, you knew Him as God.  To the question: "Do you NOW believe?" you shouted: "YES!"  But right NOW, the knife is close to your neck and you are wobbly. It is frightening. The demons are crawling all over your brain. Nothing is working; life is imploding. NOW do you still believe that Jesus is God Almighty, in charge of all dedications, working every tiny strand for your good and the gospel furtherance?

The cross jaunt does include certain portions in which the carrier is put to the bloody wall along with Jesus on that Thursday night.

"Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me."

And so the Father is with you, too. And the Son. And the Holy Spirit. Somehow find it within your doubt to at least
hold onto all that for in due time you will come to hug all that to your heart with relish. In the meantime, know you are in John's jailhouse company--and good company it is.

Hear Jesus say to you as He said to John:  "Please, don't be offended by being close to Me. Sometimes this trek can get quite dangerous and uncertain to the flesh."

GLORIFYING THE LORD

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

". . .He shall glorify me. . ."  John l6:l4

We are here to glorify Jesus. If the Holy Spirit came upon Church Age disciples to glorify Jesus, then cross bearers will do the same for they are the ones overcome with this same Spirit. Therefore, this Spirit will work out His mission of always glorifying Jesus by way of those whom He possesses.

Consequently, we are not waking up mornings to bring glory to a denomination nor creed nor liturgy nor self. We are breathing to breathe out glory unto Jesus the Sinless Sacrifice.

Whatever the cross carrier does in one day must focus primarily upon Jesus, even in the slightest manner. In fact, what may appear to be the slightest manner may in truth be a glorious glorification of Jesus. Heaven seems to accent primarily the small as measured by earthly standards.

". . .when the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself: but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak. . ."

The indwelling Spirit of truth reveals more and more the unique individuality of Truth Jesus. Whatever the baptizing Spirit does, such always comes full circle to the Second Person of the Holy Trinity. One prime reason is due to the fact that it was this personage of the triune godhead who willed prior to earth's start that He would create earth, offer Himself as earth's Redeemer, then literally provide the salvation sacrifice for earth. How logical then that earthly time span's chief light would fall upon the Christ.

Yet such perfect communion exists within the triune godhead that the Christ comes to His own turf, earth, to see through nothing but Father's will. And in the end of all things earthly, the Christ presents the earth to Father. All this is accomplished by the work of the Spirit of God moving upon creation waters, Spirit of God coming upon Old Testament disciples, Spirit of God blessing the Christ at His baptism, Spirit of God resurrecting the Christ from the dead, Spirit of  God empowering the Christ's followers throughout the Church Age.

It is with like communion that each cross bearer honors the triune godhead by addressing prayer to "Our Father" in "Jesus' name" while knowing that all spirituality is due to the indwelling Spirit of God.

Whatever you do today, do to the glory of Jesus. The Spirit within will see to that for His presence is to do just that. When one professes spirituality but does not glorify Jesus as God, then that one gives himself away as having bogus spirituality. The true indwelling Spirit of God always lifts high Jesus as deity, Savior, Sinless Sacrifice.

There is much talk about spirituality; but not all such profession confesses Jesus as the Christ. Therefore, the spirits indwelling such "spiritualities" are of Satan and not of God.

KNOWING GOD MORE CLEARLY

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

". . .every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit." John l5:l2

When believers as branches continue to take in the daily life flow from trunk Jesus, then they bring forth fruitage to the Father's pleasing.

The more believers remain in close communication with Jesus, the more they are "purged." That is, they are refined in the way; they are matured in matters spiritual; they are tutored in the finer detail of the cross way.

Purging is not always pleasant. It is to bring forth a pleasant result; but the purging itself will be painful.

This is especially the case when purging focuses upon the egocentricity which forever seeks to return as center piece to the believers' very existence.

Jesus is a jealous God. He will not tolerate the human conceit to sit upon His throne. He is Lord God. The throne of the believer's inner room must be reserved only for the eternal royalty. Therefore, when Lord God Jesus insists that pride removes itself from the pivotal position, such will bring its own pain.

That pain will cause the sensitive soul to wince, even at times to cry out in excruciating agony. In that reaction is the telling of what choice believer will then make. Will believer give in to pride or oust pride on the spot? The former is extremely hurtful to King Jesus. The latter is most reassuring to King Jesus.

And so the purging must continue for the good of the branches, also for the producing of holy fruitage. In all situations, Father must be pleased. There is nothing which can detract from blessing Father God.

Consequently, indwelling Spirit of Jesus, having been true to Father's will while on earth, will continue to be true to Father's goal in believer's soul. There can be no compromise with deity. He must be true to His own integrity. His holy character demands it.

Therefore, cross carrier realizes from the start that when Jesus instructs to deny self-absorption, such commission is operative till the close of earthly sojourn. There can be no letting up for any reason. Self-surrender must be daily discipline in order to remain Christian.

In that course, cross bearer understands that on-going, in-depth purging will take place. Sometimes it will be extremely intense in order to see through the deeper works of purification.

When Paul wrote that he sought to live out Christ, he was confessing to coming under the personal purging. He was undergoing surgery of the human spirit. Paul, being particularly headstrong, ambitious, intelligent, and persistent, must have gone under the divine knife on numerous occasions in order to witness to the sanctification enjoyed. Through it all, Paul gave thanks to heaven for seeing through the severe work.

So it is with the cross carrier. The cross is meant to cut deeply, completing its surgery in order to lead to resurrection presence. It is the way of earth's travels when such are intersected by heavenly parenting. Father knows that we grace children must be governed in such a way of purification that nothing can deter the purging. Purging yields increased fruit, the most precious being the total obedience to the indwelling Christ King.

NAZNET = MORE UNITARIAN THAN NAZARENE

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

NazNet lauds itself on being the “friend” to the holiness, evangelical, Wesleyan Church of the Nazarene.

Not so.

NazNet is more Unitarian/Episcopalian/Catholic than Nazarene.

NazNet moderator Hans Deventer believes the Bible is just another book. He states he does not believe the Scriptures to be the infallible Word of God. Unitarians believe the same.

NazNet moderator Scott Cundiff agrees with Deventer. NazNet founder Dave McClung permits those positions to remain on his Nazarene-friendly site.

NazNet also permits the belief in an “intermediate state” upon death. Roman Catholic teaching states the same.

NazNet permits the annihilation of the unsaved souls at death. Liberal theologians hold to the same.

NazNet espouses infant baptism for all Nazarenes worldwide. There is no record of an infant baptized in Scripture. Liturgical denominations such as Episcopalians and Roman Catholicism believe the same.

NazNet delights in referring to the Lord’s Supper, not as “communion” in the traditional Nazarene manner, but “the Eucharist.” That term is Episcopalian, Catholic, and other liturgical church verbiage. NazNet thrills as being “high church.”

NazNet permits the belief that all souls eventually go heavenward, that is, no souls are damned. If there is an eternal bliss we all find our ways there. Unitarian-Universalists believe the same. Most theological liberals concur.

NazNet considers it posh to promote the emerging church that holds to no moral absolutes. One writes his own religion in the emerging church. Unitarians in particular hold to that. Liberal theologians in general claim that as a staple.

If NazNet is such a friend to the Church of the Nazarene, why does it not provide more dialogue regarding Nazarene heritage emphases? Why does not NazNet accent more fully the biblical call to a holy life, the sanctified experience?

NazNet is wanting in its serious exploration of Wesleyan history and teaching. And when it does refer to Wesleyan teaching, as Scott Cundiff did in his profession of disbelief in the Bible as inerrant, he was wrong. The context of his statement had nothing to do with Wesleyan teaching; in fact, it countered Wesleyan teaching.

Nevertheless, Cundiff must have felt it opportunistic to use the term “Wesleyan” when discounting Scripture as divinely inspired. Did he really know that the word “Wesleyan” in that context was totally contrary to the context?

NazNet has a perfect opportunity to provide posters with in-depth Wesleyan doctrine, biblical holiness and the real-life sanctified experience.

But seemingly all that is “old hat” to the elitists on NazNet. Who, after all, would want to go back to all that bygone stuff when we can knock the Bible as God’s Word, say that all souls end up in paradise, and debunk an eternal hell?

LET GOD OVERSEE CLIMATE

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

Let the Creator be in charge of climate.

Mortals are playing God when they move into changing climate and moving continents and sludging taxpayers and kissing up to unbelieving loudmouths and passing legislation that will gouge Americans and so forth.

God is God.

This particular planet, along with the entire universe, is God's. He is Maker and Owner. He is the one in charge of sun, moon, stars, seasonal changes and everything else related to creation. God has His hand upon it all. His claim is tagged to every part of it.

Mortals are so intent on playing deity that they play right into the hands of God's enemy, Satan. Satan always wanted to be God. He sought to take over the eternal throne. That cost him his place in hell. Now he is known in the Bible as the "King of the Pit."

If these mortals keep playing God, they will end up with the King of the Pit.

Genesis 8:22 is holy writ. This is revealed information from the God of creation. In that verse alone God states that "as long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease."

". . .will never cease."

All detail related to that overview is under God's surveillance, not mortals'. Tell that to Al Gore. Inform Bill Clinton of that basic reality.

It was a delight to see God's sense of humor sprayed out over the Copenhagen cop-out when snow blanketed empty-headed conferees. It was particularly encouraging to read that snow gusts stalled Nancy Pelosi's jaunt to the climate flop.

If mortals continue to play deity, they will answer with severe divine wrath. They will be blanketed with that which they never dreamt of. Horrific it will be.

Al Gore, once a born again believer, reared in such a biblically moored home, has gone the way of the transgressor. For years he and his wife have given up on the Bible as the Word of God.

Similarly with Bill Clinton, reared in the same biblical milieu. He too has put aside the divine revelation for his own egocentricity, writing his own religion.

These are representative of the climate-geared God-mockers who seek to manipulate creation to their own ends. Their own ends will be what is described repeatedly in Scripture as damnation.

MY TRUTH-TELL SCARES NAZNET

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

I scared NazNet. NazNet shut me down so that I cannot access NazNet via my server.

Why did NazNet shut me out?

Truth.

NazNet has got by with deceit for so long that NazNet’s founder Dave McClung and staffers Scott Cundiff and Hans Deventer along with former staffer Barbara Moulton thought their lie-trail could go on forever.

It has not. Their trail has been exposed as heretical. NAZNET DISTORTS at http://naznetdistorts.blogspot.com/ has set forth in detail the outrageous anti-Bible claims on NazNet.

That scares McClung in particular. He has ingratiated himself as a politician among ecclesiastical politicians throughout the Church of the Nazarene. He is also wealthy as a businessman. McClung believed that he then could get by with his heretical web site without discipline.

In truth, McClung as a cyberspace Pied Piper was creating an Internet “church” in competition with the Church of the Nazarene. That gave McClung some sort of jollies kick, evidently.

However, I am not a part of any political network in the denomination. I don’t believe in that kind of egocentric opportunism for it opposes the Christian ethic.

Therefore, I exposed heresies on NazNet and so cut through the NazNet heretical deceit trail.

For instance, NAZNET DISTORTS reports on such NazNet heresies as these:

The unsaved do not go to hell when they die. They are annihilated. A loving God would not permit eternal punishment for the damned though Jesus stated such. This is per Hans Deventer in particular. Cundiff agrees.

The unsaved go into an “intermediate state,” the details not defined on NazNet but defended by moderator Hans Deventer. Question: how does an intermediate state, such as believed by Roman Catholics, mesh with Dementer’s annihilation of the wicked at death?

Deventer is a master at such contradictions. They do not bother him. He spins contradictions on one point on NazNet and then spins others elsewhere on the web site. That is no problem to Deventer as he cavalierly weaves his so-called theological yarns as biblical truth.

Further heresies: The souls of all mortals hopefully will go to heaven, none going to hell. Deventer says that he hopes God believes in universal salvation, that is, that all souls end up in eternal bliss, none excepted. That is nowhere found in the Bible; however, Deventer created his own doctrines contrary to the Word of God.

Again, how does universal salvation mesh with an intermediate state upon death and the annihilation of the wicked? Obviously, none of this poses problematic to Deventer, the end-of-the-line when it comes to theological certainty.

More heresies: The Bible is fallible. It has mistakes in it. It has errors throughout its pages. Deventer states boldly that he does not believe the Bible, except for Jesus passages that provide salvation. In other words, Deventer wants heaven when he dies and so he wants Jesus as Savior; all else can be dismissed.

Regarding suspicions about the Bible, who can believe in a literal flood in Noah’s day in which scores of humans were drowned under the directive of God? What kind of loving God could see that through?

Further, who can have faith in a believable God instructing Israelites to wipe out pagan peoples? That must not be accepted as historical. Therefore, it must be folklore.

Cundiff accents especially that the more one researches Scripture, the less one knows anything about God. So don’t study the Bible over a lifetime for it will lead you to a fading God. Deventer concurs.

The more one reads on NazNet the dictates of Deventer and Cundiff, the more one realizes they are more Unitarian than Nazarene. McClung counters none of this theological liberalism on his own site.

NazNet moderator Deventer also champions infant baptism throughout the Church of the Nazarene. Nowhere in the Bible is an infant baptized; yet Deventer presses for it to be embraced globally.

The emergent church’s infantile glob with no moral absolutes believed in is enthusiastically embraced by NazNet moderators Deventer and Cundiff, thereby countenanced by founder McClung.

For more heresies, click onto NAZNET DISTORTS at http://naznetdistorts.blogspot.com/

NazNet does not want any more heresies uncovered. Therefore, NazNet is afraid of me and my truth-telling. Consequently, my server has been shut down from a bridge build to NazNet, as if I cannot get access elsewhere.

The bottom line is evident: NazNet is frightened of my truthful investigative quest to expose NazNet as a prime enemy to the Church of the Nazarene. McClung states his site as a “friend” to the Nazarenes; but the facts prove otherwise.

I have stayed true to the facts on NazNet. I have cut through NazNet’s deceit. NazNet cannot tolerate any further exposures and therefore, playing the coward, NazNet has shut me out.

NazNet is afraid of me.

But it won’t work. I will continue to investigate and report the truth.

OBAMA: WHEN BLACK IS NOT RACIST

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

I am not racist.

My wife and I adopted a black baby when he was 2 l/2 months old. We gave him my name. We have loved him dearly.

In the civil rights movement in the early 1960s, we ministered in a black community, lived in the black pastor’s parsonage, worshiped in his black church and thoroughly enjoyed making friends of black parishioners.

We were reared in homes where prejudice was not. In other words, our parents were not biased. We never picked up on bias. And so we grew into adulthood being colorblind. We were most fortunate in that respect.

Therefore, when I now refer to black people, it is not with prejudice. It is reality.

Black Marxist Muslim Barack Hussein Obama was swooned into office by countless blacks because he is black. Blacks fawned him, cried over him, stroked him and lauded him as the new messiah.

Many whites who are against prejudicial treatment of any peoples were more than in favor of a black becoming President. Therefore, add those figures to the blacks-for-Obama voters and you have quite a mob.

However, by now we should understand that electing any mortal into a public office should never be because of his skin color. Never.

We have a black man in the Oval Office who is totally inept. That is not because he is black. It is because he does not know how to be President. He was never qualified. His shallowness now blats in our faces every morning upon awakening.

I don’t know of many Americans who now proudly tout Obama as President because he is black. I think his color has basically disappeared as a qualifying reason for him sitting in the White House.

It should have been just that when he ran for the office.

Black as his color should have meant nothing. Yet the Oprahs of the nation colorscaped the entire country with color and more color. It was a loyalty thing for black people to adore and vote for the black man from Illinois.

Was he qualified? That did not make any difference. He was black.

By now America should certainly wise up to the logic that skin color be shunted. It’s not the all-in-all for casting a ballot in favor of anyone.

PRESIDENTS’ DAY & THEN THERE IS OBAMA

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

Marxist Muslim Barack Hussein Obama has brought such confusion and depression to the title “United States President” that celebrating Presidents’ Day leaves one in a quandary.

How can we really sit back to contemplate the high office of U.S. President while knowing that the chief enemy of America sits in the Oval Office? It is such a sad and dangerous dilemma.

Yet how to rid the White House of this horrific mistake. He sits there with his czar shadow government, profiling dictatorship images while grabbing executive privileges for everything his heart desires.

He bypasses legitimate channels, ignoring the Congress now cracked via Senator Scott Brown’s vote and marches forward to behead the nation.

Presidents’ Day should be a time to honor George Washington and Abraham Lincoln’s natal days in February. However, now even the term “President” conjures up our drudged present tense.

Obama in his first year-plus has done nothing commendable for this country. Nothing.

Instead, he has lied repeatedly. He has broken promise after promise. He has followed through with his loyal-Islamic code, otherwise known politically correctly as his “ideology.”

Yet a nation of millions wakes up captive to this anti-white, anti-Jew despot every morning. When we go to sleep at night, we pray that when awakening the nightmare will be gone. But he is still there.

Further, Michelle talks to Barbara Walters about her amazing husband. Of course Walters smiles throughout for she along with her liberal moral relativists cannot think reality.

The liberal ethical relativists along with mob hysteriacs swooned this Illinois, Nation of Islam child onto Pennsylvania Avenue. And now the intelligent citizenry is stuck with the worst irony our history will ever have to endure: a Muslim cultist so soon after 9/11.

ADDENDUM: THINKING OF PAST PRESIDENTS COMMENDABLE

President George Washington wrote a prayer addressed to “O most glorious God, in Jesus Christ” and ended it with this: “Let me live according to those holy rules which thou hast this day prescribed in Thy Holy Word. Direct me to the true object, Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life. Bless O Lord all the people of this land.”

President Thomas Jefferson: “God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis — a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever.”

President Andrew Jackson: “I nightly offer up my prayers to the throne of grace for the health and safety of you all, and that we ought all to rely with confidence on the promise of our dear Redeemer, and give Him our hearts. This is all He requires and all that we can do, and if we sincerely do this, we are sure of salvation through His atonement.”

Patrick Henry: “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not religionists, but by Christians, not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, property, and freedom of worship here.”

President Abraham Lincoln: “The ways of God are mysterious and profound beyond all comprehension. ‘Who by searching can find Him out?’ God only knows the issue of this business. He has destroyed nations from the map of history for their sins. Nevertheless, my hopes prevail generally above my fears for our Republic. The times are dark, the spirits of ruin are abroad in all their power, and the mercy of God alone can save us.”

President Grover Cleveland: “All must admit that the reception of the teachings of Christ results in the purist patriotism, in the most scrupulous fidelity to public trust, and in the best type of citizenship.”

President Woodrow Wilson: “America was born a Christian nation. America was born to exemplify that devotion to the elements of righteousness which are derived from the revelations of the Holy Scriptures.”

President Dwight Eisenhower: “Without God, there could be no American form of government, nor an American way of life. Recognition of the Supreme Begin is the first — the most basic — expression of Americanism. Thus, the founding fathers of America saw it, and thus With God’s help, it will continue to be.”

NAZNET PASTOR SCOTT CUNDIFF’S ‘DOUBLE-LIFE’ EXPOSED

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

To read the Alvin, Texas Church of the Nazarene web site, one would conclude that Pastor Scott Cundiff ministered in the old-fashioned Nazarene way.

Cundiff states on the site that he cares for his people in the “classic gospel southern style.” His services and daily devotional offerings are characterized in that fashion as well. In other words, to belong to Cundiff’s church family is like being “down home holiness” folk.

“Classic gospel southern style” would convey that Cundiff’s preaching focused on inviting worshipers to be saved. Then he would preach sermons on believers being sanctified. All this is standard in that holiness denomination since its inception in 1908.

Cundiff’s sermons would be based solidly on the Bible as the trustworthy Word of God; that is, if one believed his “classic gospel southern style” of sermon preparation and delivery. The Bible would be considered the Word of God—entirely, without doubt.

One would then assume that Cundiff’s exegesis of Scripture would be carefully focusing on holy writ as divine revelation—no question. That’s the “Nazarene way.” The Bible is God’s infallible, inspired communication.

After all, is not God capable of providing a revelation that is perfect? If God is God, then His Book is without error.

John 17:17: “Sanctify them through Your truth. Your Word is truth.”

However, Cundiff has lived a theological double life now exposed to his South Texas District colleagues and the General Superintendents of the Church of the Nazarene.

Also, this exposure has been communicated to his NazNet colleagues for Cundiff is one of founder Dave McClung’s long-time moderators on NazNet. However, these NazNet colleagues have known of Cundiff’s double life all along for they are a part of it.

While giving the impression to his Bible belt congregation that he is an honest biblically faithful preacher, Cundiff espouses disbelief in the Bible on NazNet. He is joined by fellow moderator Hans Deventer from the Netherlands. Both of these NazNet staffers are permitted their heresy push by McClung—over years. NazNet is in fact a prime enemy to the Church of the Nazarene.

Cundiff and Deventer have posted often on NazNet their conclusion that the Bible is laden with errors. Deventer goes so far as to state that he does not believe in the Bible, except for passages related to Jesus. After all, believing the sections about Jesus provide Deventer with salvation and heaven. The rest of the Book can be discarded.

Cundiff holds basically to the same.

Cundiff witnesses on his church site to being a trustworthy biblical preacher and teacher. But in fact on NazNet he is a cavalier theological liberal who shunts the Bible as a take-it or leave-it. In truth, on NazNet Cundiff comes across as being more Unitarian than Nazarene.

Note this on NazNet as posted by moderator Scott Cundiff:

“In a devotional I dealt with the command given by God to wipe out entire people groups as part of the occupation of Canaan. Writing from a devotional point of view my take away is that there’s that about God, an ‘otherness’ that is beyond us and that passages like that are reminders of that fact.

“Van de Beek is right. No matter how hard one tries, it is impossible to reconcile the many commands to kill enemies in the Old Testament with the commands to love our enemies in the New.

“Even more difficult is the portrait painted of God as a violent and genocidal child killer in the Old Testament (Noah’s flood, the fiery destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, the slaughter of the Canaanites and Amalekites), and in Christ the lover of children in the New.

“Van de Beek admits as much. He confesses that ‘The more one wants to let all of Scripture speak for itself . . . the more unclear the Bible becomes. The more we believe that the whole Word is revelation, the less we know who God is.’”

Read that again: “’The more we believe that the whole Word is revelation, the less we know who God is.’” That is provided by Cundiff on NazNet, the latter allowed by NazNet founder McClung.

To the above quotes, Deventer exclaimed his ecstatic approval related to Cundiff’s skepticism concerning the Bible’s trustworthiness.

So there you have it: NazNet moderator Cundiff believes that the more we research the Bible, the “less we know who God is.” At the same time, Cundiff plays “holiness, Bible-believing” preacher to his Texas worshipers.

With all this deception, McClung repeatedly states on NazNet that his web site is a “friend” to the Church of the Nazarene.

Not so.

NAZNET PASTOR SCOTT CUNDIFF'S 'DOUBLE-TONGUE' EXPOSED

Not so.

NAZNET SNUBS GOD'S BIBLE TRUTH

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

John 17:17: “Sanctify them through Your truth. Your Word is truth.”

That is one of the chief verses that the Church of the Nazarene has been based upon since 1908, its founding year in Pilot Point, Texas.

The Nazarenes have proclaimed holiness of heart and life. The Nazarenes have preached without apology that a mortal can not only be saved from sins but saved from the carnal nature—sin.

How can one come to know about this divine grace potential? Through the entire Word of God—from Genesis to Revelation. God’s Word is truth.

The Church of the Nazarene has given forth faithfully the glad tidings that the Bible can be trusted. God’s Word is “truth.” All of God’s Word is “truth,” not just parts of it.

However, NazNet site founder Dave McClung says just the opposite. It states through such staffers as Scott Cundiff and Hans Deventer and cheered on by such former staffers as Barbara Moulton that the Bible is error-laden.

In other words, one must be careful when reading the Bible for there are landmines in it that can lead one astray. Therefore, one must be clever enough to pick and choose what is to be believed and what is not to be believed.

Cundiff goes so far as to state that the more one reads the Bible the more God fades. The more one researches the Scriptures, the less one knows about God. Deventer states on NazNet that he concurs.

This is exactly what the NAZNET DISTORTS site exposes about NazNet. NAZNET DISTORTS lays bare the heresies propagated by NazNet and permitted by founder McClung.

Why is NazNet up to this? Who knows? But it is there on the Internet for anyone to research. NAZNET DISTORTS has done much of the homework for the wise and discerning.

Click onto http://naznetdistorts.blogspot.com/

It is part of the “great falling away” for the Church of the Nazarene to be attacked by its own. The General Superintendents have been informed of this intrusion. What have they done about it? I don’t know but I have at least informed them.

I have also informed the District in which Cundiff’s Alvin Texas Church of the Nazarene resides. What that officialdom does about it is under God’s surveillance. The last move they should make is to turn upon the truth giver—NAZNET DISTORTS.

God’s Word is reliable from cover to cover. Christians have witnessed that to be practical truth throughout their lifetimes.

Now come along doubters McClung, Cundiff, Deventer, Moulton and naïve posters who have lauded their positions on NazNet. It is a shame. It is blasphemy. It must be exposed far and near.

CUT THE LUGAR RUN

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

He was just a youth. He’s now dead.

He should have never “done” the lugar run.

“’He called me before the Olympics, three days ago, and he said, “Dad, I'm scared of one of the turns,”’ David Kumaritashvili said in an interview

“His son, 21-year-old Nodar Kumaritashvili, lost control of his luge on the final turn of the course, the world's fastest, and slammed into a steel support at 90 miles per hour.

“’I said, Put your legs down on the ice to slow down, but he said if he started the course he would finish it. He was brave,’ Mr. Kumaritashvili's father said, adding that his son had dreamed of being an Olympian from childhood and could have competed in two more games” per Wall Street Journal’s Samantha Shields.

I wondered when watching the opening ceremonies about the mental and emotional stability of many of those competing.

We know that countless young people are put through such rigorous training because of parents and coaches pushing them to the limit—and for some over the limit.

When they were very young, did they themselves make the choice to enter into such a journey of pain and pleasure? How many did?

How many were put onto the track without their consent? And how many in later years need therapy because of the one-lane lifestyle—train train train with practically nothing but train.

Day upon day. Week upon week. Month upon month. Year upon year.

For those who go back home with no winnings, so it is. They are told that that’s the gamble.

For those who go back home with the winnings, so it is with acclaim. But even they may be scarred.

Naturally we want youth to learn sports and the ups
and downs of competition with like-skilled youth. That should not be denied them.

However, with all of life, there has to be a balance in all things. Where is the balance in these competitive games and the training that leads up to the press?

With the Georgian, my heart aches when knowing
that he confided his fears in his Dad just before his death. They were haunting him. The Dad knew that. No doubt that caring Dad would have liked to have traded places with his son; but of course that was
impossible.

Thinking it over—all the pathos—I keep wondering what is healthy in sports competition and what is unhealthy and who is responsible for the unhealthy.

WHY DOES NAZNET SHUT DOWN SITE TO ME?

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

As of February 14, 2010, NazNet forbids me to get into NazNet. Why?

Every avenue to the site has been cut off to me.

Logic says NazNet Founder Dave McClung and staffers Scott Cundiff and Hans Deventer do not want me to expose their heresies any further.

Moreover, NAZNET DISTORTS http://naznetdistorts.blogspot.com/ exposes detail upon detail regarding NazNet’s anti-Bible, anti-God postings.

In addition, NAZNET DISTORTS has exposed former NazNet staffer Chaplain Barbara Moulton’s refusal to witness publicly concerning God’s abhorrence of homosexual practice. Moulton stated she would not perform “wedding ceremonies” for same-gender duos but she would not witness publicly to the biblical prohibitions of same either.

Since that exposure, Moulton has left NazNet as a staff member and her name and email address no longer appear on the NazNet masthead; however, she continues to post comments throughout NazNet.

The latest revelation regarding NazNet has been Alvin, Texas Church of the Nazarene Pastor Scott Cundiff’s refusal to accept the Bible as the infallible Word of God. He, a NazNet moderator, has stated that the more one researches the Bible, the less one knows God. Deventer agrees. McClung does nothing to expunge this anti-Church of the Nazarene position from NazNet.

As soon as Cundiff’s lack of faith in the Bible was posted on the Internet on February 13, 2010, NazNet was cut off to me. I have been forbidden access following that exposure.

Nevertheless, as of February 14, 2010, South Texas Church of the Nazarene District officialdom has been informed of Cundiff’s NazNet statements concerning his disbelief in the entire Bible as divine revelation.

One wonders how far NazNet will go in its splintering of the Church of the Nazarene before McClung as Founder will apologize to the Church of the Nazarene for propagating heresies.

Then Cundiff needs to confess at least to his local congregation that he does not have faith in the entire Bible as God’s error-free Word.

Deventer needs to make exit from NazNet for he is exceptionally brash in his forthright denial of eternal damnation. He does not believe the Bible per his own confession on NazNet. Yet McClung permits this moderator to continue posting anti-Scripture opinions.

All the while McClung repeats that NazNet is a “friend” of the Church of the Nazarene. It is not. It is a prime enemy and has been for some time.

Read NAZNET DAVE MCCLUNG IS IRRESPONSIBLE AS ‘CHRISTIAN’ at http://truthinconviction.us/weblog.php?id=P3472

In addition, the denomination’s General Superintendents have been informed all along of NazNet’s heresies push. Specific details have been sent to the Superintendents every time NazNet heresy exposures have been placed on the Internet.

I have sent to McClung, Cundiff and Deventer the following article detailing faith in the Bible as the infallible Word of God; however, NazNet’s power clique continues to hold to the Bible being laden with errors.

TEXAS PASTOR SCOTT CUNDIFF HIDES NAZNET HERESY

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

NazNet Moderator Scott Cundiff hides his disbelief in the Bible when presenting himself as a Church of the Nazarene pastor in Texas.

Check it out here: http://www.pastorscott.com/

Cundiff and wife are pictured as a sweet couple furthering the gospel message. In fact, that is exactly what Cundiff states. One would think that he is an old-fashioned Nazarene loyalist preaching scriptural truth. In other words, Cundiff fits right in with the Bible belt where he ministers.

He describes himself as a hard-working local pastor and web site master. He states he’s on NazNet staff. And so forth.

Cundiff invites readers to click on to his daily devotions. His site is chummy enough to ask friends to view his clan’s photo album. He describes his ministry as in the “classic gospel southern style.”

However, there is no inkling on his church’s site that Cundiff does not believe in the Bible.

Yet Cundiff has severe suspicions about the reliability of the Scriptures. He really does not accept the Bible as trustworthy; in fact, the more one researches the Word, the less one knows God. That’s Cundiff’s final conclusion on studying the Book.

However, no hint of that agnosticism is on Cundiff’s Texas church site. None.

Cundiff on NazNet encourages readers to fall right in line with those suspicious of biblical detail. He chooses what he wants from the Bible; he discards what he considers not palatable.

In that, Cundiff is a cohort with NazNet staffer Hans Deventer. Further, Cundiff is theological companion to NazNet Founder Dave McClung. In reality, these three plant repeated blatant suspicions regarding Scripture, thus undercutting the faith in the Christian’s holy writ.

Cundiff poses as a kind local pastor and web site connoisseur while at the same time slicing and dicing the very God he claims to defend. In other words, Cundiff does not tell the truth; he lies. He does lie. There is no kinder way to state it but that Cundiff lies.

He witnesses on his pastoral site to being a trustworthy biblical preacher and teacher. But in fact on NazNet he is a cavalier theological liberal who shunts the Bible as a take-it or leave-it.

Note this on NazNet as planted by Moderator Scott Cundiff:

“In a devotional I dealt with the command given by God to wipe out entire people groups as part of the occupation of Canaan. Writing from a devotional point of view my take away is that there’s that about God, an ‘otherness’ that is beyond us and that passages like that are reminders of that fact.

“However, in the open letter (of Dr. C. S. Cowles of Point Loma Nazarene University), I find a solid Wesleyan perspective that helps me deal with the issue, not from a devotional point of view, but rather from a theological one. I appreciate this insight.

“And van de Beek is right.
